6th Street and Avenue B Gardens

Since Saturday was such a beautiful day, we decided to walk to the Lower East Side from the East Village. On our way there, we stumbled upon this great little garden on 6th and Avenue B:

It’s a communal garden for the area’s residents and has a lot of cute little nooks where you can bring a coffee and read (if you’re not afraid of the bugs). A lot of people were working on their gardens (the weather was perfect to garden since there was a slight breeze and it wasn’t too sunny) and Chris and I admired the work the area’s residents accomplished, especially this monstrosity:

What is that and how did people climb up so high to keep adding pieces of wood and random kiddie toys? The area is really cute and I definitely want to explore the area more:
