Bird on the Roof Restaurant

Before we headed back to the city, Ken and I ordered some breakfast from Bird on the Roof, a local establishment behind the main street/town center in Montauk. The restaurant is very close to the beach so there are a lot of seagulls in the area…they also like different types of birds, which showed in the decor:

I ordered the pancakes with bananas and chocolate chips:

And Ken ordered the Mexican frittata:

Ken’s frittata came with jalapenos, chorizo, lots of cheese, and roasted red peppers, while mine had an interesting batter and unevenly placed bananas and chocolate chips in the center of the pancakes. We enjoyed the black coffee and the lively ambiance but thought the food was only okay. The servers were all super nice and the cash register looked like it was an antique (it might have been – when the cashier rang us up, he said it had been there for more than 30 years and wasn’t sure how long it had been at the restaurant). A good place for a quick bite, but it gets very busy during brunch time.
