After a fun afternoon with our friends at our apartment for brunch, we walked around the neighborhood and then decided we wanted to go out for dinner – specifically, we wanted the black label burger from Minetta Tavern. Ken hadn’t been before (and the last time I went was more than three years ago) so we hopped in the cab and went to the restaurant in Greenwich village.

We didn’t make a reservation but luckily the restaurant has the full menu at the bar and the wait was only 20 minutes before we were seated. We ordered the cod brandade (salted cod mixed with potato served on toasted baguettes, basically the complete opposite of what someone on Paleo would eat):

And the black label burger:

The bartender asked the kitchen to cut the burger in half so we could split it easily (which was super nice on her part, but it ended up making the bun really soggy so definitely not recommended). The burger’s served with a big tower of fries:

The burger was still amazing, even with a slightly soggy bun, and while we were enjoying our burger we were building our ideal burger (with mentions from In-N-Out, Shake Shack, and JG Melon). We need to go back more often – I love the decor and food at Minetta Tavern!
